History

Millat college was founded on October 17, 1956. Founder Millat College Hafiz Dr. Syed Abdul Hafeez Salfi in a congregation of Muslim leaders, scholars and educationists held on October 17, 1956 at Shafi Muslim School, Darbhanga sought support to start the College. Consequently Millat College, the first Muslim Minority College was founded in Bihar. The first academic session of the college started in year 1957. The college has come a long way from the time the pioneers envisioned and undertook the difficult task of establishing a College when only a few enlightened and far-sighted persons were prepared to support the modern education. The college became a constituent unit of Lalit Narayan Mithila University in year 1975 and celebrated its Golden Jubilee on May 30, 2008. The college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 12 (B) and Section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) have accredited the college with grade ‘B’. The college has co-education and admission is open to student of all communities based on merit through centralized online admission process of Lalit Narayan Mithila University for Graduate Degree programmes and through Bihar School Examination Board Online Facilitation System for Students (OFSS) for intermediate courses.

  • The College is imparting teaching from Inter to Degree (Honours) Level in almost all popular subject in the faculties of Science, Arts and Commerce. Admission is open to student of all communities without any discrimination of religion, cast, creed and sex . After completion of successful fifty year in 2007, the college has celebrated its golden Jubilee celebration in May 2008.
  • There is facility of co-education in this College but I have no reservation to admit that over seventy percent of the students studying in this college are girls and most of them to the Muslim Community. It is a glaring example of woman-empowerment. The motive behind the establishment of this college was to generate an interest among the Muslim girls toward education and I am Happy that it is being fulfilled
  • Most of the boys and girls studying in this college hail from the families much below the creamy layer and it is for this reason that the college administration has arranged U.G.C. sponsored Remedial coaching class and coaching classes for entry in services to their great benefit. A counseling cell is also running in the college in which erudite scholars give proper advice to the students and help them achieve their respective missions in life. This College has graded by NAAC and obtained ‘B’ Grade in August 2014 for five years.
  • This is an era of technical and professional education and so U.G.C. sponsored 3 year degree course in Environment and water management is being imparted in this college. The students pursuing this course find it very easy to hunt out a job for them and their success is a matter of pride for the college. This college does not only equip the students with modern education but also help them promote cultural and moral values that they have in legacy. I have every hope that the students and guardians will leave no stone unturned on their part for the steady progress of the college by sincerely helping the administration in building up a congenial educational atmosphere.
